May Workshop

May 20, 2008

Welcome to everyone attending on May 20th at Newton Park.

First things first!

Refreshments are available now and we’ll have another break during the workshop.

In a moment I’ll say a few words about the kind of website we’re going to set up and ask you if you have any paticular plans for yours. Then it will be down to work!

New Workshop Dates

July 16, 2007

The next workshop is on July 23rd at 1.30. Those who have already booked will be reminded on the day. If anyone else would like to attend this session , or the other forthcoming one on Tuesday September 4th, please email me .

What the workshop is not!

You won’t learn how to create or update official Bath Spa University pages in this session.

You won’t learn how to use Front Page or any other ‘off-the-shelf’ web editing package.

What this workshop is!

You will learn how to create a simple website suitable for a personal or group venture which may also have a blog as part of its functionality. You could link to your website from the BSU pages or from Minerva, but it will not conform to the corporate style of BSU and the site will be not be hosted on a BSU computer. It will be findable by anyone using the World Wide Web.

There’s more information about the kind of site you will build on the Home Page

About a blog

June 19, 2007

This page is actually a blog. You can add information, notices, musings or the latest gossip any time you like. You can also get rid of this feature if you really don’t want it.

You may also add pictures to both your posts and your pages.

Second post

June 19, 2007

New posts always come at the top, but you can go back and edit posts after they have been published.

It’s usual to allow comments on a post, i.e.  visitors can respond to and discuss your posts without altering the original.

You can have comments on pages too, or set the page up so that discussion is not allowed.
